Vale was next in line for his clan of "Geomancers." A fancy way of saying Pokemon with an affinity for Nature Power.  He had gone through all the rites and rituals.  Everything was looking up as he finally completed the penultimate ritual: Branding.  Though called that, its more like painted with special, near permanent Smeargle paint.  After taking a look at himself, something snapped inside.  This wasn't him.  The blues that graced his body were not the product of choice, but some destiny his family placed upon him.  This rejection of what he saw, he later realized, was not sudden, but it was something that had been building inside as his parents and clan pushed him further and further into the position he was coming into.  The longer he stared at his reflection, the more intense the urge to run away became.  The rite of succession never finished. He ran quickly and without looking back.  The wood gecko came into Andalusst by chance.  It wasn't too long before the downside of running away without supplies came to a head.  A life of petty crime and theft soon followed the state of homelessness he found himself in.  The grass type was excellent at his newly found craft.  Any situation he couldn't lie out of, he could near perfectly escape.  It wasn't until a certain event with the town statue that he realized that this was no way to live.  There were 'mon who would selflessly help each other for less than half the coin he could pilfer in a day.  This combined with a chance encounter with Rain that he decided to enlist in a guild.

Type: Water
Gender: Female
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Protean

Rain was well loved.  Her mother died giving birth, leaving the father to raise her.  For his credit, he raised a girl the mother would be proud of.  The water type was well adapted to a lifestyle in the dark and shadows.  Her family was one of "information brokers."  Her father would jokingly say that they're more hands on than most.  She was taught how to remain out of sight whilst gathering information.  However, before he could teach her the more advanced techniques, he was struck down.  The mourning was short as he taught her that emotions only inhibit the job.  The Froakie, without a proper way to vent her emotions, fell into a depressive state.  Though those who saw her as she ambled about would never guess what she's feeling.  When all the bottled emotion finally caught up with her, she found herself slumped against a wall.  Maybe it was luck, or something else, but she was in the way of what would be her future partner, Vale.
